Finance Clerk – URGENT – Brandon

Overview:

Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services Inc. is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the following position at our Brandon Location. Reporting to the Director of Finance and working as part of the Agency’s team, you will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep accurate records of employees regarding salary, statutory/non statutory deductions, Pension and Group Insurance
  • Prepare payroll, ensuring accuracy in pay and deductions
  • Ensure payroll is paid in a timely manner and direct deposits are accepted for the scheduled payroll dates
  • Do all calculations for the Receiver General Remittance ensuring that it is accurate and paid by the scheduled remittance dates as required by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, post and reconcile company payments to general ledgers
  • Form payment strategies to make timely A/P payments and mitigate supplier objections
  • Ensure the group insurance reconciliation is completed at month end and remitted to meet the 20-day deadline
  • Apply for EI premium reduction rate annually. Reconcile EI, CPP, taxable benefits
  • Prepare and fill out payments to third parties
  • Audits purchase requests for materials, supplies, equipment, and other collateral; verifies that orders are charged to proper accounts
  • Other duties assigned which are consistent and congruent with the nature of the job

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a two-year accounting course through a recognized institution and/or two years accounting related experience, or an equivalent combination of education experience
  • Experience in Payroll, Accounts Receivable and personnel areas
  • Sound knowledge of the principle and practices of accounting
  • Knowledge/experience in computerized accounting
  • Strong Skills and Knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word, and Accpac Accounting Program
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, time management, strong work ethic
  • Advanced proficiency with an accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications
  • Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to handle late payments and delinquent accounts

The ability to speak Ojibwe is considered a definite asset.
