Accountability: Abuse Specialist
Job Summary
The Intake Supervisor will report directly to the Abuse Specialist. The Intake Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Intake Department and providing direct supervision, leadership, and guidance to Intake Workers. This position ensures that Intake Workers appropriately screen, assess, investigate, document, and process referrals—including allegations of abuse and neglect—in accordance with the Child and Family Services Act, the Child and Family Services Authorities Act, and Agency policies and standards.
The Intake Supervisor provides consultation and oversight on high-risk and complex cases, ensures legislative compliance, supports staff in crisis response, and escalates matters to
the Director of Services as required.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day supervision, leadership, and support to Intake Workers.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Intake Department.
- Assign, monitor, and review Intake workloads and quality of work.
- Ensure timely screening, assessment, investigation, and processing of referrals.
- Ensure Intake Workers conduct abuse investigations in accordance with legislation, standards, and Agency policy.
- Provide consultation, guidance, and direction to Intake Workers on intake and protection matters.
- Support Intake Workers in managing crisis situations and high-risk cases.
- Review and monitor documentation, case notes, and compliance with timelines.
- Ensure appropriate escalation of high-risk or complex matters to the Protection Program Manager.
- Monitor department coverage, incoming referrals, and service demands.
- Capture and report Intake program metrics and operational data.
- Work with the Protection Program Manager to develop and implement Intake Department plans aligned with organizational vision and strategy.
- Review existing processes and client information systems and identify areas for efficiency and improvement.
- Participate with Human Resources in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and training.
- Support staff development with ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Collaborate with internal programs, community partners, and service collaterals.
- Ensure Agency policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in child welfare intake services.
- Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the Child & Family Services Act and Provincial Standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Abuse Supervisor supporting abuse investigations and high risk matters.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of First Nations traditional values and beliefs.
- Excellent organizational, computer, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team environment.
- Good working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Information System / Intake Module (CFSIS/IM).
- Required to complete and pass Prior Contact Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- A valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
- May be required to work after hours.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Intake Supervisor will typically be in an office setting. The Intake Supervisor is frequently required to operate a computer, file and retrieve written documents, and work overtime when required or during emergencies. Some travel may be required.
The administration of employees and service demands can be emotionally challenging. As a result, this position is more emotionally challenging than physically challenging. Extended periods of sitting are required when performing administrative tasks and attending meetings.
