Duties:

Prepares written assessments from observing visits and forwards to Family Service Workers for file documentation
Document all data with respect to assigned families
As requested, transports, children/families as needed
As assigned, picks up supplies and equipment as needed
Maintain and report any issues with service vehicles
Upon request, accompany workers on home visits
Document all contacts with children/families on a weekly basis, forwarding case notes to supervisor
Promote a positive image of Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services
Participating regularly in community events and activities

Qualifications:
Minimum grade twelve diploma
Preferred, two (2) years experience directly in the social services/child care profession

Protection Program Manager

Reporting directly to the Director of Quality Assurance (DOQ), The Protection Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of child protection services within the agency. This role involves managing and supervising child protection workers, ensuring compliance with provincial legislation, and working with community partners to safeguard children and families in Manitoba. The Protection Program Manager plays a key role in ensuring that children are safe from harm and that families receive the appropriate support services to promote their well-being. This position can be based out of any of our three office locations.
Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
Lead and supervise a team of child protection workers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
Conduct regular case reviews and provide feedback to staff to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and case management.
Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring alignment with program objectives and agency policies.
Oversee the implementation of child protection protocols, policies, and practices to ensure timely and effective responses to child abuse and neglect.
Review and approve protection plans, assessments, and case decisions.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Child and Family Services, or a related field, or a combination of education and extensive experience in child welfare.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in child welfare, preferably within a First Nations or Indigenous context.
Proven leadership experience, including staff supervision and program management.
Experience working with First Nations communities and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and child-rearing practices.
Strong knowledge of provincial and federal child welfare legislation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Case Aide

Duties:

First Nations Representative

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures effective delivery and monitors practices guided by relevant strategies to safeguard the children who are members of Waywayseecappo First Nation and involved with child welfare Agencies have their rights to their own culture and community protected and upheld.
Maintains a strong knowledge of the Child & Family Services Act, the policies and procedures of the Manitoba provincial standards, Customary Care Provision and Kinship Care as CFS options rather than apprehension, including completing and filing court forms, attending court appearances on behalf of Waywayseecappo First Nation, communicating with Chief and; Council, representing the interests of Waywayseecappo First Nation.
Liaise with other First Nation Band Representatives, Agencies and Legal Counsel.
Accompany child & family Service workers during investigations.
Ensure that Waywayseecappo First Nation band members fully know their rights.
Represent the First Nation at Court as a Party to Child Welfare proceedings.
Liaison with community services, including but not limited to the Family Well-Being Program, NAADAP, Mental Health Programs and visiting professionals to assess client(s) progress and suggest alternative plans if appropriate.

Minimum three (3) years experience working in social services or related field in a First Nation.

After Hours Worker
The incumbent is responsible for providing emergency service, responding to crisis situations and emergent safety and protection matters for children and families outside the regular day time office hours of Waywayseecappo Child and Family Services Inc on the First Nations community of Waywayseecappo. The After Hours (On Call) Worker will ensure the safety of children in the short term.
Some Duties Include but not limited to:
Be available to respond to after-hours calls between the hours of 5:00 pm to 9:00am, Monday to Friday, weekends and holidays through phone call or field visit (fielding).
Responds to all calls courteously and in a timely manner.
Ensures all necessary information is gathered and documented as per standards.
Ensures confidentiality of information being received and that of the caller.
Ability to provide services that are in line with Federal and Provincial CFS legislation and standards and operate within WWCFS mandate.
Assess situation and identify services required to ensure the safety of the children with the least disruption to the family unit.
Will be responsible to create an intake on CFSIS (Child & Family Services Information System) on any new matters or significant situations as per standards and/or as directed by the main office supervisor or the intake/abuse unit.
Will record call(s) in a detailed case recording.
Must be knowledgeable of the Child and Family Services Information System/Intake Module (CFSIS/IM).
Other duties as may be assigned by After Hours Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
Demonstrated understanding of and respect for the First Nations culture, traditions, and community values, particularly as they relate to child welfare and family dynamics.
Previous experience working within or in partnership with First Nations communities, especially in a child welfare, social services, or crisis intervention capacity.
Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers Licence, access to a vehicle and willing to travel.

Family Service Worker
Reporting to the Prevention Services Supervisor, the Family Service Worker is responsible for providing prevention services support to children, youth and families who are identified at risk. The Family Service Worker will participate in case planning and wrap around service delivery to children, youth and families.

Cultural Worker
Reporting to the Prevention Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive culturally based care and support in the areas of mental wellness, addictions, trauma, sexual abuse, and violence for adults, youth and families. As part of a Land Based Healing Team, the Cultural Worker works closely with the Cultural Practitioners, Clinical Counsellors, and other contracted professionals to support the delivery of a range of land-based healing and aftercare programs and services to individuals and families who are under the care of Waywayseecappo First Nation Child & Family Services.
The primary focus of the Cultural Worker’s role is on the delivery of culturally relevant land based healing within the context of a continuum of care, and provides service from a client centred, family-centred, and community based perspective. This position works in accordance both with the established standards of professional, traditional and cultural practice, and in line with the vision and values of the Waywayseecappo First Nation.
Anishinaabemowin language is required for building family values; the development of cultural teachings, such as land based teachings, ceremonial teachings and infusing kinship family values.
Duties:
Assesses the needs of the individual in order to contribute to the development of counselling and support plans, which includes the person and other supports including family, community, other team members, resource people within Waywayseecappo First Nation;
Contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of healing plans in conjunction with client, family, Clinical Counselling staff if appropriate and other helping agencies while establishing and maintaining relationships based on respect;
Provides individual, couple, family and group aftercare support, educational sessions,
Provides aftercare support for clients who attend substance misuse/trauma treatment programs, including land-based programming;
Attends case management meetings and case conferences with other care providers and family members as needed;
Participates in the evaluation and ongoing improvement of land-based healing programming.
Supports other members of the land-based healing team in the delivery of culturally based and appropriate prevention programs, services, activities and support to participants of healing camps.
Support the delivery of provider skill camps and mentorship opportunities for staff of other First Nations as required.
Participates in collaborative development of community based aftercare programs bringing knowledge of cultural, land-based and community traditions and methods;
Delivers aftercare services to clients involved with Waywayseecappo land-based programs, to those who may have attended healing camps or treatment delivered by other agencies
Collaborates with other providers to deliver culturally appropriate and land-based options to support individual aftercare goals; and
Participates in the evaluation and ongoing improvement of aftercare services.
Collaborates with community elders, cultural resources people and others;
Participates in team and staff meetings, and engages in on-going team planning, program development and evaluation;
Ensuring all files are properly maintained and kept up to date;
Recording of all communication and correspondence and ensuring it is on the appropriate paper/electronic file and is up to date;
Maintain competency through on-going cultural development activities and act as a resource person to other wellness workers, colleagues, clients and the community; and
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or similar is an asset
Significant experience supporting individuals, families and communities to access cultural teachings, ceremony and develop plans for traditional healing
Recent experience in community-based mental health and addictions related community outreach, prevention and aftercare support;
Recent experience coordinating and facilitating cultural and land-based activities;
Significant experience facilitating workshops and programming for groups and facilitation of groups.
Recent experience in cultural, land based and clinical modalities in prevention, healing and aftercare support services is an asset;
Experience working in a First Nation community is required.
Knowledge of Indigenous history, residential school impacts and familiarity with Waywayseecappo First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in this position.

Reporting to the Protection Supervisor, the Child Protection Worker is responsible for providing protection services support to children, youth and families who are identified at risk. The Child Protection Worker will participate in case planning and wrap around service delivery to children, youth and families. The Child Protection Worker functions as a member of the Circle of Care supporting children, youth and families.
Support Functions
Responsible for providing protection services and programming for children, youth and families by:
Identify and investigate complaints of neglect, abuse, or where children are at risk and in need of protection.
Deliver child and family services in accordance with Provincial and Community standards.
Manage an Intake caseload ensuring all cases are documented in accordance with the CFS standards.
Attend to the specific needs of each case as required while the case is open during Intake.
Assess all incoming child welfare intakes within the Community; In consultation with Supervisor(s), responds immediately to allegations of abuse / severe neglect, where children are at risk.
Complete and follow-up all Intakes transferred to the community from outside jurisdictions.
Willing and able to travel to designated First Nations communities and rural areas as required.
Willing to work flexible hours and shift configurations.
Relationship and Team Building
Will nurture and provide a culturally relevant space where parents, caregivers, youth and children can build strong cultural connections with each other and receive support as they journey with other families. The Child Protection Worker will support this by embracing the fundamental philosophy of good governance practices by identifying the following relationship principle in all of the work that is completed within and for the First Nation communities and families:
Provide opportunities for the enhancement and development of a positive cultural identity for children, youth, families and communities served.
Fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships by engaging our families and extended families in all aspect of service delivery.
Reinforcing positive and respectful interaction among peers, with their families, their communities and themselves as it relates to the Protection Services program.
Administration and Reporting
To complete administrative functions, reports and adhere to Agency policies, procedures and relevant practices.
Maintain case notes and document in the Agency’s case management system.
Participate in case conferencing in order to minimize duplication and ensure coordination of services.
Maintaining working files that are accurate, concise, and up-to-date.
Qualifications:
Child & Youth Worker or Social Services Diploma. Other acceptable combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Two (2) years of direct experience in a Social Services Agency
Knowledge of Waywayseecappo Child and Family Services programs and services
Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Ojibwe culture, traditions and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
Basic knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
Knowledge of First Nation service delivery, customs and traditions in responding to child welfare
Knowledge of traditional practices, ceremonies and teachings
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and organizational skills.
Strong analytical, assessment, problem solving and treatment planning skills.
Able to utilize and navigate the Provincial CFSIS system
Ability to travel and occasionally within Canada.

Family Resources Worker
Waywayseecappo Child & Family Services Inc. is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the following position. Reporting to the Protection Supervisor and working as part of the Agency’s team, you will be responsible for the following;
Key Responsibilities:
Licensing foster homes - taking applications and acknowledging receipt of application.
Criminal record checks, abuse registry and prior contact checks.
Forwarding and requesting letters of reference and tracking.
Annual foster home reviews.
Providing support to the foster home by maintaining monthly contact with new placements and quarterly contacts after the initial three-month period.
Ensuring foster parent education, informing foster parents of new laws and regulations
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) or related experience in child welfare will be considered.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the CFS Act
Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Ojibwe culture, traditions and the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
Good communication and written skills.
Skills and knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, and Sharepoint required.
Demonstrated time management skills.
Knowledge of or work experience in First Nation communities an asset.
